When should I upgrade my electrical panel?

You should upgrade if your home has a fuse box, if breakers trip frequently, or if you’re installing new high-demand appliances like electric vehicles or HVAC systems. Older panels often can’t safely support modern electrical needs. We’ll inspect your system and recommend the best course of action.

What are signs of an overloaded electrical panel?

Frequent breaker trips, flickering lights, warm panel surfaces, or burning smells can all indicate an overloaded or failing panel. Ignoring these signs can put your home at risk of electrical fires. Immediate inspection and upgrade are strongly recommended.

How long does an electrical panel replacement take?

Most panel upgrades are completed in one day. The timeline may vary depending on your home’s wiring complexity or permitting requirements. We’ll provide a clear schedule during your consultation.

Can I install more circuits without a full panel upgrade?

In some cases, yes—especially if your current panel has available capacity. Otherwise, adding a sub-panel or upgrading the main panel is often the best solution for safety and future expansion.

Is an outdated panel dangerous?

Yes. Old panels like Federal Pacific, Zinsco, or fuse boxes are linked to higher risks of electrical fires. Replacing them protects your home, your appliances, and your family’s safety.

Do I need a panel upgrade if I’m adding a home addition?

Most likely. Home additions increase the load on your electrical system, and you’ll often need more circuits. We’ll assess your current panel and recommend any necessary upgrades.

Can you add surge protection during a panel upgrade?

Absolutely. We strongly recommend whole-home surge protection to safeguard your electronics and appliances from voltage spikes.

Do you offer financing for panel upgrades?

Yes, Aux Home Services provides financing options to make electrical upgrades more affordable. We’ll discuss available plans during your estimate.
