How to Reset an Electric Furnace

1. Turn off your furnace’s power supply by turning off the breaker in the circuit box.
2. Find the reset button (found inside the blower compartment) and press the reset button to reset your furnace.
3. If the button is shifted up, press the reset button down
4. Return cover to blower compartment
5. Turn the power on

How to Reset an Oil Furnace

1. Completely turn off the furnace.
2. Locate your furnace’s fuel pump (looks like a small black box with fuel lines).
3. Find the bleeder valve (located on the side of the fuel pump).
4. Place a drip pan underneath the bleeder valve to catch the fuel.
5. Turn the furnace back on and rotate the valve a half-turn. This will cause the valve to start bleeding.
6. Make sure the fuel does not overflow.
7. Press the reset button again. This should restart the furnace.

How to Reset a Gas Furnace

1. Ensure the pilot light is out.
2. Turn down the thermostat to its lowest setting.
3. Turn off the power supply to the furnace.
4. Shut off the main gas supply to the furnace.
5. Leave the pilot gas supply on.
